FILMING PREPARATION 24/11/11

today we will  be filmng in burley Forest the location is beautiful and contrasts with the harsh senvironment that we filmed Ezgi in.

our album cover has a very autumn feels illustrating alot of orange and red colours. durng our filming today we have planned to do a shot with dan led in the leaves (high angle shot) and we want the camera to spiral down closer to his face.

using the video camera we want to recreate this image in a slow spiral down to his face as he sings the lyrics

'and i have my room and yes, i cant disappear or leave you here.'

as well as this emma has skecthed some of the angles in connection to the lyrics. this include a slow pan of dans face starting with him looking own and slowly moving his head up to look up to the sky,

pragmatically it will show him looking up towards heaven where she is now (after commiting suicide)

emma has also sketched shot of dan stood against the tree and slowly sliding down

this will show a link to the scene were Ezgi finally slips in the bath shown how he wants to meet her down there.

THIS 'WRETCH 32' ADVERT IS MORE URBAN THEN THE OTHER GENRES, IT SHOWS AN IMAGE OF WHAT THE ALBUM ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE AND HAS MORE ICONS IN THE FAR RIGHT CORNER, OF OTHER WAYS TO ACCESS THE ALBUM.

We presented our ideas during a media lesson to our classmates, the feedback was very useful and has actualy influence us to make a few changes! these are just a few comments that were made...

IDEAS AND FEEDBACK FROM PEERS

THIS POST IS JUST TO EXPLAIN WHAT OUR FEEDBACK WAS ON OUR IDEAS. FROM SPEAKING TO OUR CLASS COLLECTIVELY WE EXPLAINED WHAT IDEAS WE HAD FROM THE SONG WE HAD CHOSEN.

-SOME PEOPLE HAD SAID THAT WE SHOULD CREATE A DIFFERENT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE CHARACTERS, PERHAPS ONE MORE SOFT AND MEANINGFULL. AND INTRODUCE A LOST LOVE AFFAIR

-OTHER STATED THAT A DEPRESSING TONE SHOULD BE INPUTTED TO RELATES TO THE YLRICS

OVERALL THE OPION WAS VERY GENERAL AND THIS FEEDBACK HELPED US DECIDE OUR FINAL IDEAS, AND NOW WE CAN BEGIN A THOUROUGH SEARCH FOR REAL MEDIA EXAMPLES.

CHOSEN LOCATION

luckily Emma has recently moved into a new house, which is being refurbished soon due to the decor and condition! its a great opportunity as it means we can really experiment with the authenticity of the bathroom!

DIFFERENT VIDEOS

this song is been recently released. i enjoyed the song and was interested to see the music video. the urban location really compliment the pace of the music! i particularly like the shot focused between the two building at the night sky showing the moon

this video spotted my Mr Wallis is a great example of the genre of music that we are working with at the moment, i love the contrast of black and white and colour it really generates a contemporary feel. the video is very simple using basic location. i also love the shots when they focus out of the girl on the bed, adding an ambiguous and mysterious side to the girl.

LOCATION IDEAS

Both these locations are exactly the thing that me and emma are looking for! we want really low key lighting and a grimey dingey look this will be reinforced by the appearence of the female actress!

SHOT INSPIRATION

i found the image below on deviant art photography! the shots have really inspored me as they are very intense and create a strong emotion that is gripping! the sound track really enahces this idea of drowning an water and to connect this further our shots especially during the bath scenes shall be focussing on the water and what a powerful weapon it can be.

Me and Emma both agree that the intensity of the music should be very strongly represented through imagary, hence why our research has been specifically into suicide and pain! zoomed in camera shots shall be very important within our music video, also slow motion is very importan to keep in sync with the pace of the music!

Smudged make up and tired eyes on the female show how her dignity has been lost and the pain that has developped from inside has now formes to a more phycical state!
















i really liked this image becasue of the low angle. and the direct feel it has upon the girl, her make up is also something that is interesting as it tells a story of what has happened just from the one static picture. also the staggered layout of her hand and body also give the image a more graphic and intense look.

the song and video are very slow and depressing

contrasting some of this with a simple dash of colour could really enhance the lyrics and the tone of the music during the video

the image above seems like there is no life (no hope0 but what this artist does is uses the inspiration of colour to create a contrast

i think using a bug such as a lady bird could really add to the emotion of the video!

all images above have been captured using a zoom, this is very effective as complete attention is on the image, and in track 12 the tone is very sad and low and this could be a perfect contrast that would be very symbolic.

BASIC STORY LINE SO FAR......

this is just roughly what the story line is, i have a strong image in my head and have tried to portray this as well as possible on my blog

-Male and female break up
-female becomes goes out partying
- male is worried and constantly calling
-female suffers with depression amongst other personal issues
-female stumbles home one nihgt (or day) after a partying, potraying a prostitutes life syle and appearance
-she takes off her leather jacket and boots looks at her phone ringing and chucks on the floor
-she gets in the bath fully clothed wearing a white thin dress
-make up, and body filthy dirty, blood and scratches and bruises
-male keeps calling from his own flat
-female reaches out picks up her phone then drops it in the bath
-male notices that the phone has stopped ringing
-he gets up and leaves (slow motion) hes running through alley ways and dark streets
-shes feeling weaker and weaker, she has consumed drugs
-she lights a cigarette and smoke hovers around her
-the bath water is muggy and dark
-he is running up to her house
-she drops the cigarette in the bath (she is dying)
-hes is running up her stairs
-her head is slowly going further and further down the side of the bath reaching the water
-suddenly her head is completely under
-he reaches the landing and opens the door
-he races forward and lifts her out,

two possible ideas for endings!

1. he picks her out but the music video stops and leaves the audience without knowing the outcome (DEAD OR ALIVE)
2. she is dead and he lifts her body out and carries is somewhere???

AMY WINEHOUSE TRAGIC LIFE- INSPIRATION

amy winehouse was a fantastic spirit that eventually deteriorated into a life of drugs and depression! her life potrayed some powerful imagry, which i have been inspired by in my music video! quote in the newspaper of her really compliment the lyrics of track 12! her appearance also alowed her to stand out, even though her beauty was discreet.

the pale and frail looking figure shows a sence a strong sence of pain! the camera anel is also significant as it is more superior then the body! the camrea hanging over the body shows weakness and insignificance! images like this would really well with the tone of the music in track 12. also through out the lyrics it refers to drowning which links in well with the whole bath idea. something so close to home however it creates a really lethal side.

the back of the body and the image of the spine is a really creepy picture! the body is curled up in the bath which shows the pain and how vulnerable the female is!

this last image is interesting as it shows the way out. the angle of the shot actually indicates some hope as the door is in our view! however the blood and gore that the female sees is too distressing! i love this camera angle and think its great pragmatically as it symbolises so many alternative meanings that distract from the blood ect.
